Spring in Mom's Yard!

Thank you to the neighbors who took the lovely pictures of Spring in Mom's yard!

Mom continues to improve little by little each day. She has a new trach as I said before and during the day they put a button on it which allows air in, but makes it possible for her to speak when the air comes out. She doesn't usually say a whole lot, mostly mouths words, and since Friday has indicated that she wants a pen and paper. She has written almost a dozen times, unfortunately, Dad can only read about 1/3 of what she is writing. When Dad is sitting by her she grabs the pen out of his pocket and wants to write - so dad grabs some paper, and sometimes she uses her finger to write words on his arm. (He's not very good at this game of figuring out what she wants.) It's a game of 20 questions for him, to hopefully figure it out.

She is trying hard to communicate and is noding her head yes and no but it's very slight so don't blink or you'll miss it. She seems to be coughing a bit more lately. We are hoping she isn't catching something.

She continues to pass her swallow test and now they say she can have 10-12 ice chips per hour with certain conditions - 1) sitting up 90 degree angle, 2) under supervision of a nurse to suction if needed. This is Good News! Little by little she improves!

Thank you for the continued prayers in her behalf! Thank you to all those who have giving our family love and support! Thank you for the lawn mowing and weeding of her yard! Thanks for the cards, flowers, and pictures! Thank you to her sweet friends who help us check in on her! We love you MOM!

  1. It is so great to see the improvements she is making. Like you said it's progress and you'll take each day and make the most of it. You guys amaze me with all the love and support to show each other and those of us followers. Makes me wish I lived closer to my parents for fear of something happening to them. Thanks for your lessons of faith and courage!!
