Summary on Nancy's Condition

On Sat. April 9th, Nancy had a hemorrhagic stroke. She was visiting her daughter in Las Vegas, and was taken to Sunrise hospital. She is in critical condition in the Neuro ICU. They have done several tests to try and figure out what exactly caused the stroke, and they are still unsure. She has gone through surgery and the bleeding in her brain has been stopped. The neurologist is currently pleased with the results so far.
Right now the doctors main goals are for her to wake up. She has been intubated and has been accumulating fluid in her lungs, and they are concerned about a secondary infection.  Also when they took the xray to make sure they tubes were in the correct spot they noticed her heart was enlarged. They have done a echocardiogram, and the doctors are now saying she has a hole in her heart. The hole in her heart did not come from the stroke, but probably was something she was born with. However, they think the hole might have contributed to the stoke. She went today to have a MRI to try and figure out what problems might be preventing her from waking up.
She has gotten pass days 3-5 which were the critical days for swelling on the brain, and in the beginning she was very responsive to voice commands.  She is still fighting to open her eyes, and become more responsive. Her family is here with her and she is making progress little by little. Your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated, and we will try and keep you all updated because we know you are all concerned.
